Shipping policy.

Version: 1.0
Last Updated: 5 July 2026

1. Introduction

This Shipping Policy explains how orders placed through the Pen and Candle Publishing online shop are prepared, dispatched and delivered.

It should be read alongside our Terms of Sale,Returns & Refund Policy, and Terms & Conditions.

2. Processing Your Order

Each order is prepared and packed personally by Lisa Candel, trading as Pen and Candle Publishing.

As Pen and Candle Publishing is operated alongside the author's full-time teaching career, orders are not dispatched on a fixed daily schedule. Every effort is made to prepare and dispatch orders as promptly as possible while maintaining the quality of the products and packaging.

Orders are processed in the order they are received unless otherwise stated.

3. Dispatch Times

Dispatch times vary depending on the type of product ordered.

Factors that may affect dispatch include:

  • whether the item is in stock;

  • whether the product is a pre-order;

  • personalised signed editions;

  • seasonal demand;

  • public holidays;

  • circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Estimated dispatch times shown on product pages are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed.

If an unexpected delay occurs, customers will be informed as soon as reasonably practicable.

4. Pre-Orders

Products offered as pre-orders will clearly state an estimated dispatch period on the product page.

Please note that dispatch dates for pre-orders may change due to factors including:

  • printing schedules;

  • supplier delays;

  • publication schedule changes;

  • circumstances outside our reasonable control.

If your order contains both pre-order and in-stock products, items may be dispatched together unless otherwise stated on the relevant product page.

5. Shipping Methods

Orders are shipped primarily using Royal Mail.

The shipping service selected will depend on:

  • the size of the parcel;

  • its weight;

  • the destination;

  • the shipping option chosen during checkout (where applicable).

Shipping options may change over time to reflect changes in postal services or business needs.

6. Shipping Destinations

Pen and Candle Publishing currently ships within the United Kingdom and to selected international destinations. Available shipping destinations are displayed during checkout and may change over time.

Available destinations are displayed during checkout.

If shipping is unavailable for your location, please feel free to get in touch, as additional destinations may be considered in the future.

7. Delivery Times

Estimated delivery times are provided by the postal service and are outside the control of Pen and Candle Publishing.

Delivery estimates should not be interpreted as guaranteed delivery dates.

Delays may occur due to:

  • customs processing;

  • postal service disruptions;

  • weather conditions;

  • industrial action;

  • local delivery issues;

  • other circumstances outside our control.

8. Customs and Import Charges

International customers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, VAT, handling fees or other charges that may be applied by their local authorities.

Pen and Candle Publishing has no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount.

Customers are encouraged to check local import regulations before placing an international order.

If a parcel is returned because import charges were refused or left unpaid, the original shipping costs are non-refundable. Any refund for the order will be issued in accordance with our Returns & Refunds Policy and may be reduced by any shipping costs or fees incurred.

9. Incorrect Delivery Information

Customers are responsible for ensuring that the delivery address provided during checkout is complete and accurate.

Pen and Candle Publishing cannot be held responsible for delays, failed deliveries or additional shipping costs resulting from incorrect or incomplete address information supplied by the customer.

If you notice an error after placing your order, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to update your details before dispatch, although this cannot be guaranteed once an order has begun processing.

10. Lost, Delayed or Damaged Parcels

If your parcel appears to have been lost, delayed or arrives significantly damaged, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Each situation will be considered individually.

Depending on the circumstances, an appropriate resolution may include:

  • contacting the shipping provider;

  • arranging a replacement where appropriate;

  • issuing a refund where appropriate.

Customers may be asked to provide photographs of damaged items or packaging to assist with any investigation or claim.

11. Multiple Orders

Unless specifically requested otherwise, separate orders may be dispatched separately, even if placed close together.

Where practical, Pen and Candle Publishing may combine orders to reduce packaging waste and shipping costs.

12. Packaging

Every effort is made to package products securely to minimise the risk of damage during transit while avoiding unnecessary packaging wherever possible.

Packaging materials may vary depending on the product being shipped.

Where suitable, recyclable packaging materials may be used.

13. Changes to This Shipping Policy

This Shipping Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in shipping providers, business practices or legal requirements.

The latest version will always be available on this page.
